I work with students who have specific learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Dyslcalculia, ADHD and Autism.

I design an individualised learning program including academic study,  metacognition (learning how we learn), working memory skills, study skills, resilience and mindfulness techniques and using life coaching, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and counselling skills to develop the “whole child” and boost their confidence and self-esteem.

I take a multi-sensory approach to learning and believe in developing the child’s emotional intelligence and encouraging self-awareness & self-actualisation.

Neurodivergents often feel like a square peg in a round hole.  School may seem too difficult, but focusing on their individual strengths and building from them can help them to succeed.

Terminology:

Metacognition – awareness and understanding of one’s thought processes.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming – a way of changing someone’s thoughts and behaviours to help achieve desired outcomes.

Emotional intelligence – the ability to understand, use and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathise with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict.

Self-actualisation – the process in which an individual reaches his or her full potential.

Neurodivergent – someone whose brain processes information in a way that is not typical of most individuals. It is an umbrella term for many specific learning difficulties but does not have the negative tone of words such as learning difficulty or disorder.  We are all neuro-diverse and a neuro-typical person would be considered to have a brain that functions in a typical way.
